The new chapel design for the Santa Fe Memorial Gardens (Capilla de Luz) is moving forward and it’s hoped we will break ground this fall. The design characteristic of this non-denominational chapel is one of spare monastic simplicity. The circular form references many cross-cultural significant meanings, while the diaphanous light falling in from above will add a quiet sense of sacredness to the space.

Galisteo Residence

Archaeo’s contemporary design for a new home in the Galisteo Basin Preserve is now nearing completion. The crisp forms of the house contrast nicely with the broad open landscape that makes the Galisteo Basin so special.

Ruidoso Residence

In June, we look forward to starting a new home on a wonderful 30-acre property right on the Rio Bonito near Ruidoso. The land consists of forest covered hills on the north side that protect a lovely open meadow, which looks south toward the river and the light. Mature cottonwoods line the banks and there’s wild life everywhere.

AIA Awards

Last Thursday evening Archaeo Architects were awarded two citations from the local chapter of the AIA (American Institute of Architects). We were recognized for the Van Drimmelen/Gore residence as well as the, as yet un-built, El Paso residence. These two awards mark the 19th and 20th received from the AIA in the past 13 years.

Book publication

Coming in 2013, three of Archaeo’s houses will be published in a book by Rizzoli on sustainable design. It is being written by Stephen Snyder, the author of such books as “The New Solar Home” and “New Green Home Solutions”. The three houses are Casa Sagrada, Arcure and Ettinger.

Italian magazine publications

Three of Archaeo’s houses will be published in Italy later this year by Di Baio publishers in several of their magazines, such as “Case di Campagna” and “99Idee Casa”. They are the Greene residence, Miller/Anderson and Seade.

Northern New Mexican styled house in Truchas

Archaeo Architects recently designed a Northern New Mexican styled home on a lot in the village of Truchas, New Mexico. We’re looking to achieve a LEED Gold certification for sustainable green building practices. The home will be built by Palo Santo Designs.

Ponderosa Ridge house

Archaeo is designing a home for Steve Cummings and family on a lot overlooking downtown Santa Fe in the Ponderosa Ridge subdivision. It’s a difficult site, but the plan is moving forward nicely.
